desayunar

to have breakfast

verb deh-sah-yoo-NAHR Rare

Usage Note

Desayunar can be used transitively (desayunar huevos — to have eggs for breakfast) or intransitively (desayunamos tarde — we had breakfast late). The noun is desayuno. Unusually, the verb names the meal directly, so no extra word is needed to say what you ate.

Examples

"Siempre desayuno fruta y café."

Natural Translation
