Usage Note

Almuerzo refers to the midday meal and is largely synonymous with comida in Spain, though comida is slightly more common there. In several Latin American countries (e.g. Colombia, Peru) almuerzo is the standard everyday word for lunch. The verb is almorzar (o→ue, 'to have lunch').
