Usage Note

Desaprobar means to disapprove of an action or idea, and in educational contexts in Latin America it means to fail an exam or subject (the opposite of aprobar). In Spain, suspender is used for failing a test. The o→ue stem change applies in the present tense: desapruebo, desapruebas, etc.
