culé
FC Barcelona fan
noun koo-LEH Rare
Origin: Catalan cul (backside) — fans originally sat on cramped wooden terraces.
Usage Note
Culé (also spelled culer in Catalan) is the informal but fully mainstream term for a supporter of FC Barcelona. Its etymology — from Catalan cul (backside), because spectators' backsides dangled visibly over the old terracing — is one of the most colourful in Spanish football. It is used as both noun and adjective (soy culé, un ambiente culé) and is not offensive in context. Gender is invariable: los culés, las culés.
Examples
"Los culés celebraron el título en las calles de Barcelona."
Natural Translation
The Barça fans celebrated the title in the streets of Barcelona.
