Usage Note
Corte is masculine when it means a cut or incision (el corte de pelo = haircut), but feminine when it refers to a royal or judicial court (la Corte Suprema, la corte del rey). This gender split from the same spelling is one of the trickier points in Spanish. In Spain, las Cortes (always plural, feminine) is the national parliament.
