Cortar covers cutting with scissors, a knife, or clippers: cortar el pelo (to cut hair), cortar la luz (to cut the power). In a relationship context, cortar (Spain) or cortar con alguien means 'to break up'. The past participle cortado also names the espresso-with-milk drink popular in Spain.
