Cortado is the past participle of cortar used as an adjective meaning 'cut' in general, but it is also a standalone noun for a small espresso 'cut' with a splash of milk — a very popular coffee order across Spain and Latin America. In an emotional sense, me quedé cortado means 'I was left speechless or embarrassed'. The feminine form is cortada.
