Usage Note
Consistorio has two spheres of use: in Spain it is a formal or journalistic synonym for ayuntamiento (town hall / municipal council), and in Catholic Church usage it is the assembly of cardinals (consistorio papal). Outside Iberian Spanish and ecclesiastical contexts it is rarely used.
