Consejo has two main meanings that are clearly distinct in context: a piece of advice (te doy un consejo - I'll give you some advice) and a governing council or board (Consejo de Ministros - Cabinet). It is an uncountable noun in the advice sense in English but countable in Spanish: un consejo (a piece of advice), varios consejos (several pieces of advice).
