Also means
to freeze (assets)
Usage Note
Congelar covers freezing food (congelar carne), temperatures dropping to freezing (el lago se congeló), and the freezing of assets, prices, or salaries (congelar los sueldos). The reflexive congelarse is used colloquially to mean 'I'm freezing' (me estoy congelando). Do not confuse with helar, which refers to frost or solidification by cold, or enfriar (to cool something down without freezing it).
Examples
"Hay que congelar el pescado si no lo usamos hoy."
Natural Translation
We need to freeze the fish if we are not using it today.
