Usage Note

Confiar takes the preposition en when meaning to trust someone or something: confío en ti (I trust you). When meaning to confide or entrust something, it takes a: le confió el secreto (she entrusted him with the secret). The reflexive confiarse means to become overconfident or to open up to someone.
