Usage Note

Confesar is a stem-changing verb (e→ie in the present: confieso, confiesas…). It is used in religious contexts (confesar los pecados, to confess sins) and in everyday speech (confesó que estaba equivocado, he admitted he was wrong). The reflexive confesarse means 'to go to confession'.
