Also means
commissioner's office
Usage Note
Comisaría is the police station in Spain and most of Latin America, specifically a commissariat under a comisario (police commissioner/superintendent). It differs from a cuartel de la Guardia Civil (a barracks-style post for the paramilitary rural police). The accent on the final -í- is required. To report a crime, Spanish speakers say ir a la comisaría or poner una denuncia.
Examples
"Fui a la comisaría a presentar una denuncia."
Natural Translation
I went to the police station to file a report.
