Usage Note

Comir is not a standard infinitive; the accepted verb is comer. In Spain comer refers specifically to the midday meal ('to have lunch'), while almorzar is preferred for that sense in much of Latin America. The reflexive comerse often adds emphasis: se comió todo el pastel.
