Científico works as both an adjective (investigación científica = 'scientific research') and a noun (un científico = 'a scientist'). The feminine forms are científica (adj/noun). Note the written accent on the i — without it the pronunciation shifts. In Spanish, 'science' is ciencia, so científico is its natural adjective, but English 'scientific' sometimes maps better to de ciencias in compound noun phrases.
