Chaqueta is the standard Peninsular Spanish word for a tailored jacket or suit jacket. In Latin America saco is often preferred for the same garment. The idiom cambiar de chaqueta ('to change one's jacket') means to switch political allegiances — a useful expression for current-affairs reading.
