Usage Note
Capataz traditionally denoted the supervisor of manual labourers — in agriculture, mining, or construction. It carries a slightly archaic or regional flavour today; modern workplaces more often use supervisor or encargado. The feminine form capataza exists but is rare; la capataz (invariable) is more common. The plural is capataces (z → c before -es).
