Usage Note

Calificado means holding recognised qualifications or a high rating, so mano de obra calificada means 'skilled labour'. In grading contexts it can mean 'rated' or 'scored'. Note that in Spain the more common adjective for a person holding formal credentials is cualificadocalificado in the sense of 'qualified worker' is the standard form in most of Latin America.
