Usage Note
Burlar has two main senses: to evade or circumvent (burlar la seguridad 'to bypass security') and, reflexively as burlarse de, to mock or make fun of someone. The reflexive sense (se burla de mí 'he makes fun of me') is very common in everyday speech and should not be confused with the evasion sense.
