Usage Note
Barrendero derives from barrer ('to sweep') via the agentive suffix -ero, denoting the person who does the action. The feminine form is barrendera. It refers both to a person who sweeps streets and, in some contexts, to the sweeping vehicle itself. In Spain the job is formally called operario/a de limpieza viaria in official contexts, though barrendero/a remains the common everyday word.
Examples
"El barrendero limpió la calle al amanecer."
Natural Translation
The street sweeper cleaned the street at dawn.
