Balonmano is a compound of balón (ball) and mano (hand), the standard Spanish name for the sport known in English as handball or team handball. It is a popular Olympic sport in Spain and Latin America. Do not confuse it with frontón or pelota vasca, which are different ball-and-hand sports from the Basque region.
