aventurar

to venture

verb ah-ben-too-RAHR Rare

Origin: From aventura (adventure), from Latin adventura (things about to happen).

Also means

to hazard

Usage Note

Aventurar means to venture or hazard a guess or opinion, often in the reflexive aventurarse (to venture out, to dare to go). Me aventuro a decir means 'I venture to say'. It is more formal or literary than simply atreverse (to dare). The reflexive form aventurarse is the more common everyday usage.

Examples

"No me aventuro a dar una fecha concreta."

Natural Translation

I wouldn't venture to give a specific date.
