Usage Note

Atribución has two distinct uses: in intellectual contexts it means crediting a work to its author (la atribución de la obra a Velázquez), and in legal or institutional language it refers to a power or competence assigned to a body (las atribuciones del parlamento). The plural atribuciones ('powers', 'remit') is very common in official Spanish and EU institutional texts.
