Usage Note

Asistencia covers two broad senses: help or aid (asistencia médica = medical care) and the act of being present (la asistencia al acto fue masiva = attendance at the event was massive). Do not confuse with asistente, which means 'assistant' or 'attendant'. In basketball it also translates as 'assist'.
