pleasure, liking

noun ah-GRAH-doh Rare

Origin: From Latin ad gratum, 'to what is pleasing'.

Usage Note

Agrado expresses a sense of pleasure or approval, and most commonly appears in the fixed phrases de su agrado ('to his/her liking') and con agrado ('with pleasure, gladly'). It is more formal than gusto. The verb agradar ('to please') shares the same root, as does the adjective agradable (pleasant).
