Afirmación means an affirmative statement or assertion, often used in formal discourse and journalism. The verb is afirmar (to state, to affirm); the opposite noun is negación. In logic and philosophy it translates as 'affirmation' or 'proposition'. Do not confuse with confirmación (confirmation), which implies verification of something already suggested.
