Usage Note
Traje is the standard word for a formal suit or any complete outfit, including traditional and theatrical costumes. Traje de baño means 'swimsuit'; traje de novia means 'wedding dress'. Note that traje is also the first-person singular preterite of traer ('I brought'), so context is needed in writing when the two senses could collide.
Examples
"Llevaba un traje elegante para la reunión."
Natural Translation
He was wearing an elegant suit to the meeting.
