Usage Note
Superficial is invariable for gender (same form for masculine and feminine) but changes for number: superficiales. It applies to physical surfaces as well as to people or ideas lacking depth. The related noun is superficialidad. English speakers may also encounter superficie ('surface', noun) and should not confuse the two.
