siembra
sowing
noun SYEM-brah Rare
Origin: From sembrar (to sow), from Latin seminare.
Also means
planting season
Usage Note
Siembra is both the act of sowing seeds and the season in which it takes place. The proverb quien siembra vientos, recoge tempestades ('he who sows the wind reaps the whirlwind') uses the related verb. Do not confuse with cosecha (harvest), which is the complementary stage.
Examples
"La siembra de trigo comienza en octubre."
Natural Translation
The sowing of wheat begins in October.
