noun sen-see-YES Rare

plainness

Usage Note

Sencillez (plural sencilleces) denotes simplicity in manner, style, or character — often with a positive connotation of modesty and unpretentiousness (la sencillez de su estilo = the simplicity of her style). It is the noun of sencillo (simple, modest). Note the -z → -ces plural. Do not confuse with simplicidad, which in Spanish often has a slightly negative shade of 'over-simplification' or 'naivety' compared to the warmer sencillez.

Examples

"Todos admiraban la sencillez con que vestía."

Natural Translation

Everyone admired the simplicity with which she dressed.
