señorial

stately

adjective seh-nyoh-RYAHL Rare

Also means

lordly

Usage Note

Señorial describes something befitting a lord or noble: a stately manor (una mansión señorial), a dignified bearing, or grand, imposing architecture. It derives from señor (lord, master) and carries connotations of old wealth and aristocratic dignity. It does not mean 'senior' in the English sense — that false friend is mayor or de edad avanzada.

Examples

"Vivían en una casa señorial en las afueras."

Natural Translation

They lived in a stately house on the outskirts.
