Usage Note

Santidad can refer to moral or spiritual holiness in general, but its most recognized use in Spanish is as the honorific title for the Pope: Su Santidad (His Holiness). Do not confuse with sagrado (sacred, adjective) or santuario (sanctuary). The adjective form is santo/santa.

His Holiness presided over the ceremony in Rome.
