atesorar

to treasure

verb ah-teh-soh-RAHR Rare

Also means

to hoard

Usage Note

Atesorar literally means to accumulate treasure but is used figuratively to describe cherishing memories, gathering knowledge, or hoarding qualities: atesorar recuerdos, atesorar experiencia. The figurative use is far more frequent than the literal. It is a regular -ar verb. Do not confuse it with tesoro alone; the prefix a- signals the accumulating action.

Examples

"Atesora buenos recuerdos de su infancia."
