Usage Note

Sanguíneo is primarily a medical/scientific adjective meaning 'of or relating to blood': vaso sanguíneo (blood vessel), grupo sanguíneo (blood type). In older humoral theory it also described a cheerful, optimistic temperament — a 'sanguine' character. The stress accent on the i is required.
