Also means
request
Usage Note
Ruego is a formal or earnest request, stronger than a simple petición but without the force of a exigencia (demand). The fixed phrase ruegos y preguntas appears on Spanish meeting agendas as 'any other business' (AOB), which often surprises English speakers. It derives from the verb rogar (to beg, to pray).
Examples
"El presidente ignoró los ruegos del pueblo."
Natural Translation
The president ignored the people's pleas.
