reportar

to report

verb rreh-pohr-TAHR Less Common

Also means

to bring in (results)

Usage Note

Reportar is used in Latin America to mean 'to report' (news, findings), where Spain more commonly uses informar. It also means to yield or bring in a result (la inversión reportó beneficios — the investment brought in profits). Another false-friend trap: English 'to report' a crime is denunciar, not reportar.

Examples

"El periodista reportó los hechos con precisión."

Natural Translation

The journalist reported the facts precisely.
