Also means
to appeal
Usage Note
Recurrir almost always appears with a: recurrir a alguien/algo ('to turn to someone/something, to resort to'). In legal Spanish it specifically means to appeal a ruling (recurrir una sentencia). It differs from acudir (to go to/attend) and recurrir should not be confused with the English 'recur' (repeated occurrence) — that meaning is expressed by repetirse or volver a ocurrir.
Examples
"Tuvo que recurrir a sus ahorros para pagar."
Natural Translation
He had to resort to his savings to pay.
