Usage Note

Recomendar is a stem-changing verb (e → ie): recomiendo, recomiendas, recomienda. It requires the subjunctive in the subordinate clause when you recommend someone do something: te recomiendo que vayas (I recommend you go), not que vas. The noun recomendación is common in job-reference contexts.
