quizás

maybe

adverb kee-SAHS Less Common

Also means

perhaps

Usage Note

Quizás (also written quizá without the final s — both forms are standard) expresses doubt or possibility. It can take either indicative or subjunctive: quizás viene (fairly confident) vs. quizás venga (more uncertain). It is interchangeable with tal vez and slightly more formal than a lo mejor, which always takes the indicative.

Examples

"Quizás mañana lleguen las cartas."
