Pudir is not a standard infinitive; the recognized verbs for 'to rot' are pudrir and its older variant podrir, both in the RAE dictionary. The everyday verb is usually reflexive: pudrirse (la fruta se pudre). The past participle podrido is used adjectivally to mean 'rotten'.
