Publicar ends in -car, so the yo preterite is publiqué (c → qu before e). It covers publishing books, articles, and digital content. The related noun is publicación and the adjective público/a (public). Do not confuse publicar with publicitar (to advertise/publicise), which specifically relates to advertising.
