Usage Note

Preparado is the past participle of preparar used as an adjective, agreeing in gender and number: estoy preparado, está preparada. It is used with estar for a temporary state of readiness (¿estás preparado? = are you ready?). In a professional context it can mean 'well-qualified' (una candidata muy preparada). The food use comida preparada means ready-made or pre-cooked food.
