Practicar means to practise a skill or sport — practicar el piano, practicar natación. It also has the medical/formal sense of 'to perform': practicar una operación ('to perform an operation'). Note the spelling change c→qu before -é: practiqué. The noun is práctica and the adjective is práctico.
