Also means
practising believer
Usage Note
Practicante is a common-gender noun (el/la practicante). In Spain it historically denoted a licensed paramedical worker (the old ATS) who gave injections and dressed wounds — beware the false friend: it is NOT the English 'nurse practitioner' (a graduate-level specialist), but closer to a practical nurse. In a religious context, un practicante means a practising believer, and as an adjective es muy practicante means 'he/she is a devout (practising) [Catholic, etc.]'. Context distinguishes the medical from the religious sense.
Examples
"La practicante le puso la vacuna."
Natural Translation
The nurse gave him the vaccine.
