Also means
position, seat, place
Usage Note
Plaza is the central public square found in virtually every Spanish town — la plaza mayor is the grand main square. It also means an available seat or job vacancy: hay una plaza libre ('there is a free seat/vacancy'). Do not confuse with playa ('beach') — the difference is a single vowel.
Examples
"Nos encontramos en la plaza mayor."
Natural Translation
We met in the main square.
Literal Translation
Ourselves found in the square major
