Usage Note

Patrullar means to patrol an area, used for police, military, or security forces: la policía patrulla el barrio ('the police patrol the neighborhood'). The noun is patrulla ('patrol, patrol car') and the agent noun is patrullero ('patrol officer, patrol boat'). In Latin America, patrullero can also refer to a police car.
