Usage Note

Parto refers to the act of giving birth, not the result. Dar a luz is the common verb phrase ('to give birth'), while parto natural and parto por cesárea distinguish delivery types. The verb form is parir. Not to be confused with the first-person singular parto ('I leave') from partir.
