partitura
score (musical)
noun pahr-tee-TOO-rah Rare
Origin: From Italian 'partitura' (division, part-arrangement).
Usage Note
Partitura is the written musical score — the full notation of a piece as read by musicians or a conductor. It is distinct from parte (a single instrument's part) and libreto (the text of an opera). Losing la partitura means losing the entire written blueprint of a composition.
Examples
"El director estudió la partitura antes del ensayo."
Natural Translation
The conductor studied the score before the rehearsal.
