Usage Note

Palabra is feminine despite ending in -a (as expected). The phrase dar la palabra means 'to give the floor' (in a debate). Palabra de honor is 'word of honour', and en pocas palabras means 'in short'. Tener la última palabra means 'to have the last word'.
