Also means
obscurity
Usage Note
Oscuridad is the abstract noun from oscuro (dark). It refers to literal absence of light as well as figurative obscurity — an author writing in oscuridad is unknown or hard to understand. Do not confuse it with oscurantismo (obscurantism, the deliberate suppression of knowledge). The common colloquial phrase a oscuras means 'in the dark'.
Examples
"Caminaba solo en la oscuridad."
Natural Translation
He was walking alone in the darkness.
